03.08.202605:00:00UTC+00India’s Manufacturing Momentum Eases Slightly as HSBC PMI Edges Down to 53.5 in July

India’s manufacturing sector saw a mild loss of momentum in July, with the HSBC India Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) easing to 53.5 from 53.9 previously. Despite the marginal decline, the latest reading still signals an expansion in factory activity, as it remains comfortably above the 50-point threshold that separates growth from contraction.

Both the previous and current indicators are reported for July 2026, with the updated data released on 3 August 2026. The small downtick suggests that while manufacturing growth continues, the pace has softened slightly compared with the earlier reading, pointing to a more measured, but still positive, operating environment for Indian producers.

The sustained level above 50 indicates that demand and output conditions remain generally supportive, even as the sector adjusts to a modest cooling in momentum. Investors and policymakers will be watching subsequent releases closely to see whether July’s dip marks the start of a trend or a temporary pause in India’s manufacturing recovery.
